127 year old Chinese woman claims to be the world's oldest person

Last December, a Japanese man named Jiroemon Kimura was officially declared the oldest living person in the world at 115 by Guinness World Records. However, a Chinese woman by the name of Luo Meizhen, who claims to be 127 years old, is now challenging that title.

A woman who Chinese officials said was 127 years old -- although international authorities never recognised the claim -- has died, relatives said on Tuesday.
Ms. Luo claims to have turned 127 last September. Her year of birth as shown on her ID card is 1885, though she does not have a birth certificate to prove it. She lives in Bama, Guangxi province where residents are known for their longevity. She lives with her son, whom she claims she gave birth to when she was 61.
