Natural painkiller found in human saliva

A new painkilling substance found in human saliva has been discovered that is up to six times more potent than morphine it's produced naturally by the human body. Natural painkillers are very rare, and researchers hope that this recent find might be harnessed as a clinical treatment.

Naturally produced painkillers might help to avoid some of the side effects experienced by patients treated with synthetic compounds such as morphine, including addiction and tolerance with prolonged use. But the new substance will first have to be tested to confirm whether it will be an effective drug, experts warn.

Sparkling Glow Pavement Replace Street Lights

A company called Pro-Teq has created a solution that makes pavement glow and sparkle in the dark. It is environmentally friendly and could save a lot of money.

Glow Pavement

Starpath is a sprayable coating of light-absorbing particles that harvests ultra-violet rays from the sun during the day and dramatically lights up like a starry sky at night. The veneer is non-reflective, anti-slip and waterproof, and can be applied to cement, wood, tarmac or other solid surfaces.

This energy-efficient technology to illuminate pathways is environmentally friendly and beautiful.

The sun is actually a greenish-blue color

I know, the sun doesn't look green or blue but it is actually greenish-blue color . When scientists measure the wavelength (color) of the sun, the peak output is in the transition area between blue and green (about 500 nanometers). So, technically, the sun is green-blue. But, why doesn’t it look green?

The sun is actually a greenish-blue color

It doesn't look green because it also emits light at other wavelengths, enough that our eyes blending these wavelengths together perceive the combination as white light. Because of the way our eyes work, we can only see a green star (such as the sun) if its photons are limited to the green range. Therefore, you’ll never actually see a green star (as green).

Biodegradable cigarette filters with flower seeds.

Biodegradable cigarette filters with flower seeds.

Forman’s ‘Cigg Seeds’ are biodegradable cigarette filters that are embedded with wild flower seeds. Whenever a butt is thrown on to the ground, they will flourish into beautiful flowers. Even though this solution might not be fully practical in urban areas, it certainly would be very beneficial for public parks, beaches and other green zones.

Cigarette filters are made from cellulose acetate and although technically they are biodegradable, this can take as along as 10-15 years in certain environmental conditions.

Reason why we hate the recorded sound of our voice

The reason why we hate the recorded sound of our voice is because our skull changes the resonance of our voice from within and creates more bass. When we hear a digital recording of our voice, although slightly unfamiliar to ourselves, it’s exactly how other people hear it.

Pineapple starts eating you when put in mouth

If you put a piece of pineapple somewhere in your mouth it will start eating you. It has proteins that degrade meat.

Pineapple starts eating you when put in mouth

Pineapples contain an plant protease enzyme called bromelain. Because it readily breaks down protein, bromelain is frequently used as a natural meat tenderizer. In addition, bromelain may also induce a prickly sensation in the mouth when consumed.

Although the enzyme is present in all parts of the pineapple plant, it's most concentrated in the stem, the hard piece in the middle of the fruit, which is much more fibrous and chewy but still edible. Many people believe that letting a pineapple sit overnight helps take away the irritation factor, but one surefire way to alleviate the burn is to cut out the core.

Saturn’s moon Enceladus has the most habitable spot beyond Earth

Enceladus is the sixth-largest of the moons of Saturn, according to NASA “is emerging as the most habitable spot beyond Earth in the Solar System for life as we know it.”

Saturn’s moon Enceladus

The reason behind this is that " In late 2008, scientists observed water vapor spewing from Enceladus's surface, and it was later discovered that this vapor trails into Saturn. This could indicate the presence of liquid water, which might also make it possible for Enceladus to support life.
